Justice Policy Partnership Coordinator

North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency

The North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency Ltd (NAAJA) provides legal assistance and justice services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Northern Territory. We have offices in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. We are recognised as a leading legal service and have received national and local human rights and crime prevention awards for our work.

Under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, all Australian Governments and the Coalition of Peaks have agreed to establish Justice Policy Partnerships (JPP) at the national and state and territory levels to progress the commitment to reduce the incarceration rate of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults and young people. The Justice Policy Partnership Policy Officer will play a lead role supporting the establishment of the JPP in the Northern Territory. Working closely with NAAJA’s executive team, Aboriginal community controlled organisations, NT Government agencies and justice sector stakeholders, the position will provide high level, strategic policy advice and secretariat support to further the objectives of the JPP.

The work requires high levels of motivation, energy and a commitment to professional excellence.

Aboriginal and Torres Islander applicants will be granted priority consideration in the recruitment process.
