Mowanjum Aboriginal Art and Culture Centre is a community-owned art centre representing the Wandjina-Unguud people of the Worrorra, Ngarinyin and Wunambal language groups. The three tribes are united by their belief in the Wandjina as a sacred spiritual force and the creators of the land. They are the custodians of Wandjina law and iconography.

Situated at the start of the iconic Gibb River Road, Mowanjum Arts receives an estimated 20,000 visitors each year. Renowned for its Wandjina paintings, prints and carved boab nuts, Mowanjum Arts also travels to major Aboriginal art fairs nationally.

We are currently seeking a Manager to lead our team on a full-time basis. Based in Derby, Western Australia, the position reports directly to the Board and provides leadership and strategic direction to Mowanjum Arts. The Manager is responsible for managing operations and discrete projects, training and guiding staff, managing finances with integrity and upholding proper governance procedures.

To be successful you:

  • Will be culturally aware, have highly developed listening and communication skills, and enjoy working with different kinds of people;
  • Have experience managing a not-for-profit or social enterprise;
  • Have a deep understanding of, and passion for, the Aboriginal art industry; and
  • Are positive, self-motivated, driven to achieve objectives to a high standard, and enjoy solving complex problems.
