Mountains Outreach Community Service

ABOUT YOUR ORGANISATION

MOCS is a social justice community development organisation in the Blue Mountains that engages with communities and people who are marginalised and isolated. We aim to make a difference to people's lives through inclusive opportunities for connection, engagement, and participation. We collaborate with communities to identify their needs and work together to develop sustainable solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This position at MOCS is for a SCHADS Level 4 Grade and focuses on community development work with children (0-14) and families across the Blue Mountains.

The role is responsible for existing regular programs, such as facilitating a peer / mentoring group for first time parents and those with babies under 12 months, organising and facilitating learning opportunities for parents and children at school, representing MOCS at local networks, supporting MOCS' programs for families and children such as Crafternoons and work collaboratively to hold school holiday activities. You will be the Child Safety Officer at MOCS and contribute to policy making relevant to MOCS' work with children and families.

As a community development officer you will also engage in consultation with children and families to identify emerging needs and work with community to co-design sustainable solutions. This is not an entry level role.

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking an experienced community development project officer who has worked with children (0-14) and who is committed to and enthusiastic about working with young people, children, families, and communities that face systemic barriers and often experience isolation. We are looking for a person who is warm, compassionate, dynamic and able to work with a diverse range of ages and backgrounds. We work within a trauma-informed framework and employ a strength-based approach, so we expect this worker to be non-judgmental, inclusive, creative, organised and able to lead collaborative community project work.  You will display independant judgement.

A Qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Youth Work or related fields would be highly regarded.

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
