  • Location: Minus18 Office at the Victorian Pride Centre, 79-81 Fitzroy St, St Kilda VIC. This is a hybrid role, including working from home for part of each week.
  • Salary: $111,760.89 Full Time Salary Package (Non-PBI Equivalent) + Super - incudes:
  • Base Pay $102,554.40
  • Up to $6,385.95 in tax-savings via our offered charity salary packaging.
  • $2,820.54 allowances and cash benefits
  • + $11,280.98 Super (11%)

Minus18 is Australia’s charity improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth. We support LGBTQIA+ young people through events and digital platforms, and provide fee for service LGBTQIA+ inclusion training to schools, businesses and community organisations. Since 2011 over 100,000 young people have engaged in these services across Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide, and millions more via digital platforms.

ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Business Services team is responsible for looking after the internal operations of Minus18. Working with internal stakeholders this team ensures our business practices and our people are supported. The Finance Business Partner will play a pivotal role supporting all of our teams and senior leadership acting as a trusted Financial Partner.

You will work strategically on enhancing our finance practices and process and supporting Minus18 to achieve our goals through your insights. Your strategic insights will support Minus18 and keep us on track to meet financial performance. You’ll also play a key role in the development of financial strategies and initiatives, contributing to the overall financial sustainability of our internal programs.

Beyond your strategic responsibilities you will deliver the day to day delivery of our finance function managing our end of month and EOFY accounts and looking to improve our existing processes and policies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

FINANCIAL INTEGRATION & COMPLIANCE

  • Deliver financial insights and lead development of financial policies, tools and processes.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and compliance with relevant financial regulations.
  • Ensure accurate capturing and recording of financial business activities.
  • Complete end to end management of month end and EOFY accounts and reporting to the Board and Finance and Risk Committee.
  • Lead auditing process as required
  • Ensure financial compliance through the lodgement and reconciliation for all Business Activity Statements and other statutory obligations including Payroll Tax, PAYG, Super, FBT and Income Tax.
  • Lead the management of payroll including the processing of timesheets on a timely and compliant basis
  • Monitor, support and coordinate the work of our external bookkeeper including accurate record keeping, accounts receivable and payable function and any further financial responsibilities.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL PARTNERSHIPS

  • Be a trusted financial advisor to the Senior Leadership Team and the rest of the organisation.
  • Analyse and present financial performance in dashboards and reports for the team and board of directors.
  • Provide support to Minus18 to reach their financial performance KPIs and metrics
  • Set up financial systems and models for our programs to ensure adherence to inform responsible decision making.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process in collaboration with Senior Leadership to align financial plans with organisational goals.
  • Collaborate with senior management to formulate financial strategies and long-term plans.
  • Analyse financial data and trends to identify areas of improvement, potential risks, and develop solutions.
  • Partner with the Partnerships team to manage grant proposals, reports, and wrap-ups in compliance with financial regulations.
  • Provide insightful forecasting to the Senior Leadership Team and the Board to support the goals of the organisation.
  • Train the team to understand finances better and improve our processes.
  • Manage critical financial matters in coordination with key stakeholders.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

The ideal candidate has:

  1. CA, CPA or CIMA Qualified or relevant qualification;
  2. Proficient in cloud based accounting software (MYOB, Xero, etc);
  3. Proven experience in business partnering or advisory roles within a dynamic environment;
  4. Demonstrated lived experience and understanding of diverse identities within the LGBTQIA+ community ;
  5. Demonstrated passion for Minus18’s mission to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • A successful Police Background Check and Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required for this role. These can be obtained once an offer of employment is made, and before role commencement.
  • Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status.
