About MindTribes

MindTribes is a DEI and change management consultancy founded in 2012, with deep expertise in race, cultural and gender diversity. Our clients include large state and federal government departments, universities, charities and private sector clients. Our work includes DEI /Antiracism strategies; Action Plan; Audits; Staff and Leader Consultation, Training and workshops and general advisory to executives.

Many DEI consultancies in Australia focus on gender equity and work at the level of policy, awareness-raising and training. MindTribes works in the less comfortable work of racism, culture change, and the compounding disadvantage that comes from sitting at multiple intersections at once. Our founders grew up in apartheid South Africa, which shapes both the advice we give and our willingness to give it when clients find it difficult to hear. We are brought in when the stakes are high, the situation is sensitive, and generic approaches have already proven inadequate.

Not everything we do is heavy. The team works with students on research projects exploring new innovative ideas in DEI, and we run the annual Business in Colour Awards, in recognition of anti-racism leadership in Australian businesses.

The Role

65% of your time is face to face with clients (virtually and in person): facilitating workshops and listening sessions, running focus groups, providing advisory support, coaching staff, and occasionally speaking at events. The remaining time is split between behind-the-scenes delivery work like audit and review, report writing and curriculum design, and a smaller contribution to business development (proposals/ tenders etc).

You will be working across a varied client portfolio. No two engagements are the same.

Please note: this role requires eligibility for Government Security/TSPV clearance (Permanent Resident or Citizen)

What We're Looking For

Strong facilitation is a non-negotiable requirement for this role. As a facilitator you will need to read a room quickly, adjust your approach mid-stream, navigating the complexity without defaulting to a formulaic response.

You have at least three to five years in DEI work in a professional context, and you understand the concepts well enough to adapt them to what a client actually needs. A bachelor's degree in HR, organisational development, education, or related. A Cert IV in facilitation, coaching, or training is preferred.

We need self-starters who are professional, and able to function with client ambiguity rather than wait to be told what to do.
