About the role

As a Volunteer Coordinator, you will be responsible for leading the PALS service. The PALS service is a state funded program that offers support to volunteers and consumers throughout Metropolitan Melbourne. The program assists in reconnecting individuals to the local community and supporting them to engage in social and recreational activities.

You will be responsible for assessing and selecting Volunteers to match with our consumers based on their individual needs, goals and interests. Previous experience in the Mental Health sector and Volunteer Coordination is essential.

In your new role you will:

  • Select and match volunteers to provide support to clients
  • Provide information, training and supervision to volunteers to provide social and recreational support to clients in the community
  • Manage client referrals from a broad range of referral sources
  • Develop rapport and trusting relationships with clients and volunteers
  • Work within a recovery oriented framework to support clients and Volunteers

What we look for

  • Proven experience in working within a recovery oriented framework
  • A passionate for providing support to consumers to develop daily living skills and capacity for self-care
  • Ability to develop strength based assessments Facilitate the re-engagement and maintenance of family and carer relationships
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum certificate IV) in Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or other health related field
