Position Overview

It is an exciting time to join Monash Health as their newly created Philanthropy Manager in the growing foundation team! Reporting to the Head of Major Gifts this role will play an integral part in the Foundation’s ambitious five-year plan to substantially increase revenue through implementing a best-practice approach to securing significant philanthropic gifts across the whole of Monash Health.

Organisation Overview

Monash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. They provide safe, high-quality care to one-quarter of Melbourne’s population, across the entire lifespan, from pre-birth to end-of-life. They improve the health of our communities through:

  • Prevention and early intervention
  • Community and home-based treatment and rehabilitation
  • Specialised surgical; and medical diagnosis; treatment and monitoring services
  • Hospital and community-based mental health services
  • Comprehensive sub-acute and aged care and palliative care programs
  • Research and teaching the next generation of healthcare professionals

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify an extensive prospect list and philanthropy pipeline, qualify and solicit ongoing and significant philanthropic gifts and secure ongoing and increased revenue
  • Develop and maintain customised moves-management plans and adhere to the process, culminating in significant asks and repeat donations
  • Research, develop and present proposals and acquittals where required, and assist with the development of funding proposal concepts for complex collaborative initiatives and the organisation’s ambitious ideas
  • Ensure donor records are maintained accurately and contemporaneously and maintain donor pipeline
  • Produce and present regular timely and accurate progress reports, and assist in gathering information for the preparation of annual and other reports, as required
  • Keep abreast of new fundraising techniques and strategies to ensure best-practice and a competitive approach to major gift fundraising, and contribute to discussions within Monash Health Foundation on achieving annual fundraising targets and strategy implementation
  • Collaborate with the Operations and Business Intelligence Unit on the identification of new prospects and with the Donor Relations Unit on stewardship, communications, campaigns, events and other matters, as required
  • Consult with key Monash Health leaders to develop principle and major gift opportunities and to leverage their existing relationships with major donors and prospects to develop giving opportunities and formulate individualised strategies for each donor

Key Selection Criteria

  • Experience in and an understanding of the NFP and philanthropy sector
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and appropriately represent the Foundation and Monash Health
  • High level report writing, research, presentation and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop a variety of philanthropic relationships, and to make ‘the ask’
  • Ability to contribute to and coordinate the drafting of proposals and acquittal documents in a professional and timely manner
  • Ability to work autonomously and creatively and strong organisational skills
  • The ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders, both internal and external and in a team environment
