The Communications and Marketing Lead develops and delivers communications and marketing initiatives that enhance Meridian’s brand, promote programs and services and engage key audiences. The position plays a critical role in shaping Meridian’s public image, ensuring targeted communications across multiple channels and driving awareness, engagement, and growth.
Working collaboratively across the organisations, the position leads the creation of compelling content, manages digital and traditional media campaigns, and oversees internal and external communications.
You are creative and strategic with demonstrated experience crafting compelling campaigns that resonate with diverse audiences. A skilled communicator, you have strong copywriting, editing and storytelling abilities which you apply with ease across multiple formats. You are digitally savvy, always with an eye on evolving trends and experienced in SEO, social media, email marketing, and analytics tools.
Collaborative and inclusive by nature, you are able to work across teams and build relationships with media, partners and community stakeholders. You are values-driven with a deep understanding of diverse and often marginalised audiences, are committed to social justice principles and display sensitivity in managing communications where stigma and discrimination can be at play.
Sometimes serious, sometimes a little playful and cheeky, you are adaptable, proactive and confident in managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality work.
Selection criteria including skills, attributes, knowledge, experience and qualifications can be found in the attached position description.
Working in a dynamic working environment as part of a professional and passionate multi-disciplinary team, we offer:
Meridian is Canberra’s leading LGBTIQ and HIV+ community organisation. Formerly the AIDS Action Council, Meridian was established in 1983 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and has a strong and proud history of working with and representing diverse groups of people. This includes gay and bisexual and other men who have sex with men, lesbian and queer women, transgender and gender diverse people, sex workers, people who use drugs, and people in custodial settings.
We are dynamic, intersectional, and progressive with our approach to tackling complex social health issues such as HIV and the health and wellbeing of sexuality, sex, and gender diverse people. Our vision is to build strong, connected, and supportive communities that are free of new HIV transmission, marginalisation, discrimination, and stigma. We create opportunities for our communities to live their healthiest lives and be their true selves.
Meridian values diversity and lived experience in the workplace and encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from diverse cultural backgrounds, people with disability, sex workers and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and other sexuality and gender diverse people.
