At the Australian Men’s Shed Association, some of our best work starts with a conversation. It might be over a cuppa at the shed, watching a group of shedders working on a community project or it could be hearing someone quietly say, "I don't know where I'd be without this place."
Those are the moments that help people understand why Men's Sheds matter.
AMSA is the national body supporting more than 1,300 Men's & Community Sheds across Australia, and we're growing our Communications & Impact team. We're looking for someone who's just as comfortable chatting with shedders over a coffee as they are behind a camera or editing a reel.
As our Communications & Content Officer, you'll help bring the Men's Shed movement to life through storytelling, photography, video and digital content.
You'll create content for our social media channels, websites, newsletters and campaigns … but some of the best work happens away from the desk. You'll regularly travel to Men's Sheds and events around Australia, meeting shedders, listening to their stories and capturing the moments that show the impact of what happens inside a Men’s Shed.
Working as part of a small Communications & Impact team, you'll contribute to everything from day-to-day content through to national campaigns and organisational projects. It's a role with plenty of variety, where no two weeks are quite the same.
Your work will help more people understand the value of Men's Sheds. By capturing authentic stories and creating engaging content, you'll help shedders feel connected, help partners and stakeholders better understand our impact, and inspire more people to recognise the important role Men's Sheds play in communities across Australia.
This role is ideal for someone who's got a foundation in communications or content creation and is looking for the next step.
You're comfortable creating content for social media, editing short-form video, designing in Canva (or similar) and writing for digital channels. Those technical skills are important because you'll use them every day. What will make you great at this role, though, is your ability to connect with people.
The best content doesn't start with a camera or an editing app. It starts with trust. We're looking for someone who can walk into a Men's Shed they've never visited before, make people feel comfortable, ask thoughtful questions and recognise the moments that others might walk straight past.
If you're looking for a role where you'll continue to build your skills, meet some incredible people and create content that genuinely makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
Flexibility that works for life
We trust people to manage their time, focus on outcomes and get the job done.
A team that shows up
We're a small team with plenty of banter. We back each other, pitch in when needed and celebrate the wins together.
Purpose you can feel
This isn't abstract impact. You'll see it in sheds, in conversations and in communities across the country.
A role you can grow in
You'll work alongside experienced communications professionals, broaden your experience across a wide range of communications projects and help shape how we tell the stories of the Men's Shed movement.
If you're looking for a communications role that's as much about people as it is about content, we'd love to hear from you. Click "Apply Now".
