Your New Team

Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to be part of a well-regarded team working within a recovery-orientated practice framework within a Secure Extended Care Unit.

This key role leads a dynamic multidisciplinary team of Allied Health and Nursing professionals, supporting a 26 bedded residential facility with 24 hour nursing support. Providing care to adults, AMHRU residents require intensive recovery orientated treatment and interventions that are unable to be provided by less intensive community services.

Your Contribution

The team is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Team Leader to provide professional leadership. As a Team Leader will not only provide leadership to the team but also a recovery focus interventions in the management of AMHRU consumers. The position will contribute to the efficient and effective operation of AMHRU and, as team leader, will provide direction, supervision and leadership for the clinical team, and assist to coordinate the work to be undertaken on a day-to-day basis. As a Team Leader you will work in collaboration with the Program Manager to ensure the continuous improvement of the service. This position is also professionally responsible to the Area Discipline Senior for all matters relating to discipline specific practice.

Essential Requirements for the Role:

  • Experience in the severe mental illness and psychiatric disability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, families/carers, colleagues and other service providers
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development for self
  • Well-developed skills in writing and an ability to promptly prepare required forms of documentation.
  • An understanding of the policies and procedures associated with the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation
  • Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
  • Ability to work with consumers, family and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services
  • Familiarity with a range of computer software packages including the Microsoft platform
  • Successfully undergo a Police Records and Working With Children’s Check for pre-employment screening
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License, and ongoing ability to use this form of transport
