Life With Us:

Orygen Youth Health (OYH) is a program of NorthWestern Mental Health, provides specialist mental health services for young people aged 15 to 24 and focuses on providing early intervention to young people with severe and complex mental illness. OYH also works alongside Orygen, the National Centre of Excellence in Youth Mental Health which operates four primary mental health care headspace services in the catchment area.

A Job to Be Proud Of:

  • Leadership of the peer workforce through co-reflection, supervision and training
  • Administrative functions such as pay, rostering for sessional peer workers
  • Consultation with and professional learning for other staff working with peer workers
  • Representing the peer workforce at a range of organisation and interagency meetings
  • Communicating internally and externally about the role of peer work in a youth mental health service

The position will be based at OYH Parkville but will be required at times to work out of additional OYH sites including Footscray, Wyndham, Sunshine, Melton, Craigieburn or other sites within the catchment.

Your Contribution:

  • To have been or be a first-hand user of mental health services, preferably as a young person
  • Experience in delivering peer work in mental health, ideally in a youth-specific setting
  • Experience in the development of models of peer work
  • Knowledge of the Intentional Peer Support framework
  • Experience in co-reflection or consumer perspective supervision
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team which includes peer workers
