About the Program

Melbourne Youth Support Service (MYSS) is one of the many integrated services located at Frontyard. MYSS is a state-wide Access Point for young people requiring assistance from the Homelessness Service System. MYSS initial assessment and planning and supported referrals into housing and other support related programs.

About the role

This role provides high quality initial assessment and planning services to all young people presenting to Frontyard who are homeless or at risk and require holistic support to achieve their goals.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary level degree in Social Work, Youth Work or a related discipline or extensive experience working in the community services sector.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people who are at risk or experiencing homelessness.
  • Thorough understanding of intake and assessment processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of the homelessness sector and service providers
  • Strong ability to actively and assertively engage young people with complex needs.

Applicants will be required to undergo a pre-employment safety screening process as part of the MCM selection process. Appointments to MCM roles will be subject to the following safety screening checks (as applicable to the role): National (and International if applicable) Police Check (which includes Proof of Identity Check), Victorian Employee Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, Right to Work in Australia and current and valid driver licence. All costs associated with safety checks (except National Police Check) will be at applicants’ expense.
