About the role:

This is an exciting time to join MCM in this specialist role. MCM provides support for young people who are disadvantaged and at risk; people who have a disability; individuals with dual diagnosis, and children and families who often sit outside mainstream services. Our focus is on increasing quality of life and resilience, and building capacity so that each individual/family can participate in everyday life. The role will have both a strategic focus as well as a hands-on component. You will lead the development and delivery of organisation wide approaches, best practice frameworks, and models of care. You will also have input into individualised strategies for people with disability, or young people in crisis by:

  • Undertaking functional behavioural assessments to develop behaviour support plans meeting the specific needs of the person displaying behaviour of concern;
  • Focusing on person-centred interventions to address the underlying causes of behaviours of concern or challenging behaviours; and
  • Developing, overseeing and ensuring behaviour support plans meet both clinical and NDIS requirements.

Skills & experience include but are not limited to:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Allied Health, or Nursing, and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
  • A minimum of 5 years working as a Behaviour Support practitioner.
  • Extensive clinical knowledge and expertise in undertaking behaviour assessments along with comprehensive behaviour support planning skills.
  • Substantial experience providing psychological services to people and children with disability, mental health, dual diagnosis, or those who have been exposed to trauma.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in high demand environments.
