An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and skilled Capacity Building and Support Officer to work with people with disability and their families and carers.

Location: Griffith and surrounding areas

The position is part time 3 days per week until 30 June 2024. Salary is based on SCHADS Award Grade 4. You will also benefit from ongoing support, training and flexible working conditions; and salary sacrifice after qualifying period.

The Multicultural Disability Advocacy Association (MDAA) is the leading NSW advocacy agency for people from Non-English Speaking (NESB) and Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds with disability and their families/friends. Our vision is to create a community where everyone, regardless of background or disability, feels welcome, included and supported.

Selection criteria:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience in advocating for people with disability
  • Knowledge of the disability sector in Australia
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advocacy support to people with disability from CALD backgrounds
  • Experience in supporting people with disability to build their capacity to advocate for themselves
  • Demonstrated experience in community development and networking
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel to regional NSW

Desirable:

  • Ability to identify and address systemic issues
  • IT proficiency
  • Bi-lingual
  • NSW full driving licence
