Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI)
At MCRI we share a powerful vision; to re-imagine the future of child health. We are the home to many life-changing scientific discoveries. We believe that no question is too impossible to try and answer. We are renowned for our cutting edge focus on early interventions, improved diagnosis, prevention and development of potential cures. Our success is founded on a philosophy of collaboration through a multi-disciplinary approach to solving the toughest questions in child health. MCRI is committed to creating a culture of inclusivity, equity and respect that celebrates and values the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our people. We strive to foster a positive working environment that is underpinned by equal opportunity for all and consideration for the diverse voices of staff, students and the communities we serve. MCRI is a proud member of the Australian Network on Disability and is a committed subscriber to Science Australia Gender Equity and its principles.
GenV is a world-first initiative that transforms the whole of the State of Victoria into a single dynamic health and solutions platform, breaking down barriers in research to solve pressing questions and translating that into tangible actions that can improve the health, development and well- being of children and younger adults (their parents). One of the world’s largest birth and adult cohorts, GenV will be open to all 150,000 babies born in Victoria over two full years and their parents. Its design comprises consent; use of existing data and biosamples; augmented with GenV-specific measurement and biosamples; and a design to maximise its multi-use potential e.g. to support trials, registries, place and community, discovery and health services research at the population level. GenV’s activities and infrastructure are delivered by teams with diverse skillsets and backgrounds that come together in this single program. Learn more: www.genv.org.au
Our Recruiters are GenV’s ‘front line’. They are the people who make it possible for parents and children to join GenV. GenV approaches many parents face-to-face while still in the birthing hospital, but this isn’t possible for all families. This may be because they went home early, had a home birth, or were missed during the birthing stay for other reasons. The role of the GenV Recruiter (Virtual) therefore focuses on recruiting these families via phone or on-line. They contact parents/guardians of newborn babies in the weeks or months after birth, inviting them to participate in GenV.
Successful recruitment requires effective communication skills and knowledge of the study design and outcomes; the training needed to understand GenV and the processes involved will be provided as part of the role. Our ideal candidates will be highly motivated, trustworthy and have excellent interpersonal skills (especially by phone) and an approachable, enthusiastic manner. You will be sensitive to complex and stressful situations and comfortable working with families of babies. You are also efficient, tenacious and able to manage recruitment software.
As part of the recruitment team, GenV Recruiters (Virtual) will report to the Virtual Recruitment Coordinator and work as part of the Cohort HQ team. This includes work afterhours, on weekends and occasional public holidays. There are no pre-requisite qualifications for this role. Training and competency assessment is provided on the job.
