Expressions of interest are invited from experienced executives motivated to contribute to the governance, financial and commercial oversight of CAAMA and support its important role as a strong voice in Aboriginal radio and media and in sustaining Aboriginal languages and cultures.
Two positions are available, one of which may be filled by a candidate from outside the Alice Springs area. Candidates with experience and/or interest in radio, media production or other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts and cultural organisations will be highly regarded; as will finance, legal, business or other professional backgrounds.
Prior board experience is essential. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a strong understanding of the role of the board, the executive and stakeholder partners in the strategic and commercial oversight of an organisation; and high standards of integrity and ethics.
Ideally, candidates will have expertise and skills in one or more of:
Preference is that at least one of the Independent Directors is based in Alice Springs.
Directors from other locations are welcome to apply. In this case, in-person attendance in Alice Springs will be required for at least two Board meetings per year; the Annual General Meeting and a strategic planning meeting (4 visits). Other meetings and activities may be attended through video conferencing.
Under the CATSI Act, the corporation is required to hold a minimum of four Board meetings over the year, in addition to a strategic planning meeting and the Annual General Meeting.
The Independent Director roles are paid a nominal meeting fee, ie approx. $150 per meeting. If travel for meetings or planning is required this will be covered by CAAMA.
