Maribyrnong City Council is undergoing significant change in population growth, redevelopment, and a transitioning economy is leading to an influx of new residents, businesses and opportunities. Maribyrnong is becoming a sought after residential area and a destination for foodies.
Our Community Development, Inclusion and Positive Ageing Department has an exciting opportunity for a First Nations Project Officer to support the design and launch of Maribyrnong City Councils Reconciliation Action Plan. As our First Nations Project Officer, you will work closely with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and in collaboration with Council Departments to provide support in driving the implementation of our Action Plan, which aims to strive for reconciliation, maximum self-determination and sustainable positive change. This role will also have a strong connection to the Intercultural Cities Framework of which First Nations communities play an important role.
Maribyrnong City Council considers that being of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent is a genuine occupational requirement of this role and as such, this position is designated for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples only under section 12 Special Measures of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic).
This is a temporary full time position until 30 June 2022 and reports to the Coordinator Diversity and Inclusion.
