Mansfield Autism Statewide Service (MASS) is an independent not for profit organisation, supporting young people and their families living with autism. At Mansfield Autism we work alongside families to instil understanding, confidence and determination to create the best possible outcomes for people with autism and their families.

We offer a wide range of services for individuals and families living with autism. Our services have been designed as a ‘wrap around’ model – each service complements and enhances the quality of care and support we provide our clients.

About the role:

Mansfield Autism is undergoing a $50m expansion on a 100 acre farm on the outskirts of Mansfield. It will be home to new facilities and expanded services and programs, so that we can support more families. The development has been partially funded through federal and state government grants, contributions from philanthropic foundations and donations from businesses and community.

It is an exciting time to join Mansfield Autism. The Philanthropy Manager is a new role created to help us achieve our goal – to improve the lives of autistic people and their families. We are seeking a passionate, committed go-getter to bring this role to life.

The Philanthropy Manager will develop, drive and deliver a philanthropic fundraising strategy to support the ongoing growth and expansion of the organisation. The Philanthropy Manager will also be responsible for bridging the funding gaps across our breadth of services, programs and projects. The Philanthropy Manager will identify, establish and grow relationships with new philanthropic partners across Australia, and seek funding opportunities.

The role is part time 3-4 days per week. It can be based anywhere in Victoria, with trips to metropolitan Melbourne and Mansfield as required.

Key accountability and responsibilities:

  • Work with CEO and Team Leaders to identify services, programs, projects and infrastructure that might best be funded through philanthropy.
  • Develop and deliver a philanthropic fundraising strategy.
  • Work in collaboration with our Strategic Projects Lead who engages with all levels of council and government to develop and foster relationships and respond to grant opportunities.
  • Provide strategic input into planning and budgeting processes.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship database (CRM) to respectfully manage and successfully steward donors.
  • Regular reporting to donors about the impact of their donations, and to the CEO and Board about the effectiveness of the fundraising strategy.
  • Identify funding opportunities and develop funding submissions, and create persuasive proposals, reports and communications.
  • Develop strategic partnerships with organisations, individuals and companies to increase Mansfield Autism’s visibility and profile amongst existing and potential donors across Australia.

Skills and Experience:

  • A proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as fundraising, business development, marketing, communications, etc OR demonstrated transferable skills in a similar role.
  • Membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development is highly desirable.
  • A proven track record in philanthropy, including demonstrated achievement of annual income targets and experience in major gift fundraising and /or fostering and soliciting high net worth individuals.
  • Well established professional networks in industry, business and philanthropic community.
  • Outstanding relationship management skills which have been demonstrated in successfully stewarding long-term relationship with donors. CRM development and utilisation will be viewed favourably.
  • Strong understanding of the philanthropic landscape and current trends in Australia, including any legislative, legal and ethical issues related to philanthropic giving.
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver strategic fundraising initiatives within budget.
  • Excellent project management experience with the ability to manage multiple and complex activities.
