Macarthur Legal Centre

Macarthur Legal Centre is a community legal centre based in Campbelltown, NSW, serving Southwest Sydney and part of rural New South Wales. Founded in 1987, it is a not-for-profit organisation funded by grants from the NSW and Federal Governments and donations.

Working with our Financial Administrator, you will be responsible for data entry, accounts payable and receivable, journal processing, month end reporting and assisting our Financial Administrator as required.

Experience in a similar role is an advantage, but not essential. We are prepared to consider recent graduates, accounting students looking for part-time work, those who have completed relevant TAFE studies and those who have acquired the necessary skills in the workplace.

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Administrator, your duties include:

  • Full-cycle accounts payable
  • Accounts receivable
  • Processing all bank-related transactions and reconciliations
  • Reconciling and processing of EFTPOS transactions
  • Reconciliation and entry of corporate credit card transactions
  • Assistance and backup for fortnightly payroll processing
  • Monthly financials – preparation of journals and reconciliations, reviewing financial statements, ledgers and accounts and making corrections where appropriate
  • Assistance with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Assistance with financial acquittals
  • Assistance with BAS preparation
  • Processing journals
  • Ensuring accounting procedures and policies are followed
  • Working closely with management and staff as required.

The person and requirements:

  • You are a person of integrity
  • You have full working rights in Australia
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Advanced MYOB accounting system skills
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to build strong working relationships as a team player
  • Proactive and ability to think of your feet
  • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills

All staff at Macarthur Legal Centre must complete a satisfactory Working with Children Check and a Criminal Record Check.

Salary benefits

  • In addition to your salary, you can package up to $15,900 pa (amount varies each year) pre tax
  • Flexible work arrangements, including part time hours and some work for home ability.
