About Luke Hockley
I’m a Maker, Mover, Teacher and Performer. I write, draw, sing, dance, teach, tell stories and make live theatre. I want the things I make to inspire people to believe they can create the kind of world they want to live in. You can read more about me here - www.lukehockley.com.au.
Some key projects I am currently running include:
Previous projects include:
- Dear Self was a public daily letter to myself. Each day, for 1,819 days, I sat down and wrote a letter to myself as a dedicated act of self-reflection. This daily ritual has made my life much richer. It has grown into a live theatre show that was performed as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.
- Listening by hand is an award winning* live art piece where I listen to a woman speak of her experiences as a woman whilst I make my own shirt. In doing so I hoped to challenge the sometimes-unhealthy power dynamic between genders. This work is performed for one audience member at a time. The audience member speaks. The performer listens. (*Best live art – Melbourne Fringe Festival 2018)
