The Role

The primary purpose of the Facilities Manager is to ensure Lort Smith has robust and fit for purpose facilities to enable excellence in animal healthcare and wellbeing. This ‘hands-on’ leadership role will have a strong focus on creating efficiencies. This role will be solutions focussed and help increase productivity with facilities by ensuring efficient and effective management and collaboration with staff. Specifically, this role will be responsible for:

  • Development and management of facilities program
  • Advise senior management on new builds for expansion and major refurbishments
  • Ensure compliance and quality control e.g. testing and tagging
  • Management of assets, resources and related vendor management
  • Management of key external partners, such as but not limited to engineers, security, utilities, cleaning, maintenance, waste disposal etc.
  • Manage Maintenance Officer and develop schedules and work plans
  • Ability to manage, organise, communicate and drive a wide stakeholder group including staff, volunteers, contractors etc.

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • Qualification in Business Management and/or Administration, engineering or relevant field is preferred, but not essential
  • Knowledge of Building Code obligations and other relevant legislation
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in MS Office: Working knowledge of safety management information systems is desirable
  • High competency in time management and organisational skills
  • Diligent with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to learn, adapt and instil change
