Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? Do you enjoy working with people from a diverse cultural background?
Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services is based in Bendigo and has recently joined the National Redress Scheme as a Redress support provider. We are recruiting experienced and dedicated workers to join our team, so that we can support people from culturally diverse and mainstream backgrounds, who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse, to access support from the Scheme.
Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services (Multicultural Services) is a leading independent organisation that helps people from migrant and refugee backgrounds build positive lives in regional Victoria. Multicultural Services is a membership-based organisation and the peak body for refugee and migrant groups in Central Victoria. By focusing on people’s strengths, we are able to develop stronger communities, support other service providers and influence decision-makers at local, state and national levels.
The Team Leader is part of a highly skilled team, providing person-centred trauma-informed practice and support to survivors of institutional child sexual abuse ('National Redress Support Services'), with a focus on, but not limited to people with multicultural backgrounds. Your extensive experience in providing therapeutic support and case management will see you succeed in this exciting role. With your knowledge of self-care and self-awareness you will be supported within a safe environment that includes regular peer supervision and debriefing. Your caring and compassionate nature will see you thrive in this position.
The Team Leader will, in collaboration with the Redress Advocate, conduct research, stakeholder and community engagement in multicultural and other communities to support people who face barriers to access the Redress scheme. The Team Leader will also provide information, support, assisted referrals, and individual advocacy as required.
The Team Leader will actively conduct outreach, information sessions and networking to raise awareness in the Loddon Campaspe Region about the National Redress Scheme, with a view to creating referral networks for eligible people.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of the impact on individuals and their families of sexual abuse and the skills required in working therapeutically with these individuals. They will also demonstrate an understanding of cross-cultural issues in multicultural, Indigenous and Anglo-Caucasian communities in providing services to individuals, families and communities who have experienced sexual abuse.
