Our story is one of collaboration in which many people work together to help others live their lives well, free from the harm of drugs and alcohol. We’re a dynamic, not-for-profit organisation with a team of almost 400 people, delivering innovative and accessible support services across Queensland and regional New South Wales.

Set on a beautiful property in Mareeba, Shanty Creek is our Indigenous alcohol and drug residential rehabilitation centre that provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women, aged 18 years and over, who are experiencing alcohol or other drugs dependency or addiction and mental health concerns.

About the role

The Wellbeing Worker works with clients to provide high level therapeutic interventions.

This includes:

  • Management and coordination of individual residents’ treatment and recovery processes, including assessment, intake, admission, counselling support and discharge planning processes.
  • Facilitate and deliver group work on a daily basis and contribute to the development of programs
  • Work as a supportive part of the Shanty Creek team to provide support to Shanty Creek Residents

This is an ongoing Full-Time role, based in Mareeba. For employees based in Cairns, there is the possibility of accessing a staff car pool to the centre each day.

This position is an "identified position" and Lives Lived Well considers that being a Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (QLD).

The salary range for is $69,199.52 to $74,455.68 annually. We are fortunate that our employees can also access $18,540 salary packaging which increases your take home pay.

What you will bring to the role

  • Demonstrated experience in both counselling and case management in a community services setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in contemporary evidence based AOD clinical practice.
  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, nursing or other relevant allied health discipline
  • Understanding of working within culturally secure programs and a clear articulation of these values
  • Experience in Counselling approaches with AOD experience
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
