Peer Health Promotion Officer - Ageing with HIV

Living Positive Victoria

About LPV

Living Positive Victoria (LPV) has been supporting people living with HIV in Victoria since 1988. We are a peer-led, community-governed organisation, the people we exist for are also the people who shape and lead our work. We believe lived experience is expertise, and we put that into practice every day.

About the role

LPV’s 2026-member survey tells us something important: PLHIV aged over 50 want peer connection, genuine help navigating health and aged care systems, and support with mental health and wellbeing. Many are not yet engaged with services that truly understand the experience of ageing with HIV. This role exists to respond to that.

What makes this position exciting are the creative opportunities. You will not be inheriting a fixed program to deliver. You will be working from rich community insights to design, shape and build what comes next for LPV’s ageing programs. That means real outreach and engagement with a cohort that has a lot to say, genuine co-design with community members who bring deep expertise from their own lives, and the freedom to develop approaches that reflect what people actually want and need.

You will also build LPV’s organisational knowledge of aged care systems, build relationships with key sector partners including Alfred Health, Bolton Clarke and the NAPWHA BOLDER network, and coordinate LPV’s annual Long Term Survivors Day while contributing to its renewal.

At SCHADS Level 5.1, this role carries real professional scope. You will work with autonomy, contribute to strategic direction and represent LPV with credibility across the sector.

Who we’re looking for

We particularly encourage people living with HIV, especially those aged 50 and over, to apply. Your lived experience of ageing with HIV is central to this work, not incidental to it.

We are also looking for someone who:

  • Understands peer-led practice and what it means to genuinely centre community voice in program design
  • Has experience building trusted relationships with people who are not yet connected to formal services
  • Can initiate and sustain meaningful stakeholder relationships
  • Brings health promotion knowledge through qualifications, experience, or both
  • Thrives in a small community-led organisation where initiative and resourcefulness matter

What we offer

  • SCHADS Award Level 5 salary with generous NFP salary packaging
  • A flexible, values-driven workplace
  • Work with genuine purpose, in an organisation built by and for the community it serves
