We're Australia’s leading Young Carer organisation, supporting young people aged 4 to 25 who provide unpaid care for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, substance use or conditions related to ageing in VIC, NSW and QLD. Since our launch in 2009, we've become a game changing force in the Young Carer space, developing internationally recognised best practice programs and changing the lives of thousands of Young Carers around Australia.

Across a range of direct support programs, both in-person and online, we're working to improve the quality of life of Young Carers across five key areas of risk: education, employment, mental and physical health, social wellbeing and financial literacy.

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE:

Little Dreamers exist because Young Carers deserve to be seen, supported and given every opportunity to thrive. The Executive Manager (VIC) is a senior leadership role that sits at the heart of making that possible - bringing together strategic program leadership and hands-on family support oversight in an integrated, impactful way.

Reporting directly to the CEO, and sitting as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this role carries meaningful responsibility for the quality, reach and impact of Little Dreamers' programs and support services across Victoria. With four direct reports spanning program delivery and family support functions, the Executive Manager (VIC) leads with both vision and care - shaping strategy while staying close to the families and Young Carers we exist to serve.

On the programs side, this role works alongside Program Leads to drive the strategic design and continuous improvement of our Victorian programs - reviewing where Young Carers are located, identifying opportunities to extend our reach, embedding strong KPIs, overseeing risk management, and ensuring that what we deliver is genuinely responsive to the evolving needs of Young Carers and their families. Impact measurement and reporting are central to how this role operates.

On the family support side, this role provides senior oversight and guidance across intake, assessment and individual support - offering advice and direction in complex family and Young Carer scenarios, monitoring service trends, and making recommendations that strengthen and evolve our service model. The Executive Manager (VIC) holds a seat on the Safeguarding Committee and plays a critical role in upholding and embedding safeguarding obligations across the team, including with the Victorian Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Framework, Child Safe Standards, and best-practice trauma-informed, culturally safe and family-centred approaches.

These two functions are not separate responsibilities - they are two parts of the same role aiming to ensure that every Young Carer is seen, heard and connected to the right support at the right time.

This is a 10-month parental leave contract, and an exceptional opportunity for a senior leader who combines strategic capability, program experience and a family support background with genuine passion for the wellbeing of Young Carers and their families.

Let’s talk about you!

You hold a degree in social work or a related field, with postgraduate qualifications preferred, and bring strong leadership experience across community services, family support, and youth services. You have extensive experience managing intake, assessment, and individual support services, as well as overseeing program strategy, implementation, and evaluation. You are confident in managing budgets and funding agreements, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams. Your work is underpinned by a strong understanding of compliance, safeguarding, and quality assurance frameworks. You are an effective communicator with well-developed stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking skills, and you excel at managing competing priorities while consistently meeting deadlines.

WHAT's the salary like?

The Executive Manager (VIC) role is a part-time position (22.8 hours per week) offered on a 10-month contract, and is classified at Level 8 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (MA000100).
