Link-Up (NSW) Aboriginal Corporation (Link-Up) assists all eligible Aboriginal people who have been directly affected by past government policies; being separated from their families and culture through forced removal; being fostered, adopted or raised in institutions.

Link-Up supports the healing journeys of those removed delivering professional, culturally sensitive and confidential research, reunions and Social, Emotional and Wellbeing services.

We are currently seeking an experienced Caseworker to join our Reunification team, working 35 hours per week and making a difference to our community, with the ability to work from home one day per month as directed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. The prime objective is to achieve family reunions for Indigenous people removed as children, families searching for children removed, and foster and adoptive families.
  2. Assist in the research and referral of clients when required.
  3. Provide client case management plans.
  4. Prepare and maintain client files.
  5. Maintain regular client contact.
  6. Provide WARM referrals and assist reunification counsellor in SEWB services.
  7. Work collaboratively with other service providers to enhance client outcomes.
  8. Use the National Foxtrot database to keep up to date client files.
  9. Engage with Aboriginal, Torres Strait and non-indigenous communities and other service providers.
  10. Plan and attend reunions within Australia.

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Community Services, Counselling, Social Work, Youth Work or 2-3 years experience within Social Services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Stolen Generation and the impact of past Government policies on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia.
  • Must be able to work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of case management approaches to service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team including working with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
  • High level of verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have a drivers license.
  • Must be available to travel and work away from home to attend Reunions and healing weekends within Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and database applications.
  • Aboriginality is a genuine requirement for this position and is authorised by Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.
