LWB has recently expanded services and is looking to recruit additional staff to operate a 24/7 model for young people.   

About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for you to work with clients that range between 6 years to 22 years old. We are looking for Youth Workers who have demonstrated experience working with young people who have experienced trauma and are living with disabilities.  The purpose will be to assist with independent living and to assist young people with engagement in the community.

The role will include providing care in a supported accommodation setting, including day shifts, sleepover shifts and afternoon/after school shifts in Transition High Needs housing.

This role would suit youth workers, residential workers, disability support workers and those who have worked with young people with challenging behaviours.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in residential shift work and assisting young people to achieve their independent goals and engage in the community.

We have a variety of contracts available.

Responsibilities:  

  • Promote and assist clients to achieve goals identified in Individual Case Plans
  • Assist clients to develop independence and community networks 
  • Support our client’s interests 
  • Personal care – bathing, toileting, dressing (when required)
  • Establish a rapport and collaborate effectively with clients and their carer to achieve positive outcomes
  • Medication administration
  • Maintenance of progress notes and record keeping  

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum Certificate in Youth Work, Mental Health or relevant qualification
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills with clients, families and stakeholders
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma and are living with a disability such as Autism or Foetal Alcohol Syndrome
  • Demonstrate confidentiality and professional boundaries
  • A current First Aid Certificate (must have prior to commencing employment)
  • A current unrestricted Driver Licence
  • Desirable: TCI trained and experienced

Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, Department of Communities Check and Working with Children Check.
