About LCSA

The Local Community Services Association (LCSA) is the NSW peak body for Neighbourhood and Community Centres (NCCs). We represent a network of locally embedded organisations that provide essential services and build community resilience across New South Wales.

LCSA is at a pivotal point in our advocacy journey, heading into a major campaign for sustainable NCC funding ahead of the 2027 NSW State Election. Our communications have never mattered more.

About the Role

This is a broad and varied communications role that sits at the intersection of advocacy, storytelling, and digital engagement. Working closely with the CEO, you will be responsible for LCSA's voice across all channels - from our website and social media to media engagement, member communications, and campaign materials.

Three days a week, you will bring creativity, strategic thinking, and attention to detail to a communications function that is genuinely consequential: communicating to stakeholders across NSW understand that Neighbourhood and Community Centres are essential social infrastructure and worth fighting for.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the CEO to develop and implement LCSA's annual communications strategy
  • Create content across written, visual, and digital channels for diverse audiences
  • Manage LCSA's website, social media, email communications, and brand assets
  • Support proactive and reactive media engagement and monitor public discourse
  • Provide communications support to advocacy, campaign, and capacity building work
  • Contribute to the production of member resources and publications
  • Monitor and report on communications performance to inform continuous improvement

About You

You are a skilled communicator who can move between strategic thinking and hands-on content creation with ease. You care about the communities that Neighbourhood and Community Centres serve and you can translate complex policy or advocacy issues into compelling, accessible stories.

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (such as communications, marketing or public relations)
  • Strong interest in social justice issues and community development
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar, broad communications role
  • Exceptional written communications, content production and storytelling skills with the ability to connect with different audiences across different platforms
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and synthesise complex concepts into engaging and meaningful artefacts for a range of audiences
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple deadlines and distribution streams
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • A collaborative approach to teamwork and information sharing
  • Demonstrated IT proficiency across a range of social media platforms, design applications, EDM applications and Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Understanding of the NSW community services sector, neighbourhood centres, peak body environments or member-based organisations
  • Graphic design skills and experience
  • Experience with website content management systems
