Kurbingui Youth & Family Development is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander - Community Organisation based on Turrbal, Yuggera and Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi Country, with programs and services expanding across Southeast Queensland.
For over 20 years, we’ve been walking alongside our community – supporting families, young people and individuals through our many programs, which include: Family Services, Social & Emotional Wellbeing, Employment & Training, NDIS Support, Crisis Intervention Programs, Youth Justice & Bail Diversionary Programs, Family and Child Connect, and a wide range of cultural and community programs.
Our programs and services are built on cultural knowledge, respect and partnership. We are proud to be a respected and reliable voice in the community, and we continue to grow so that we can reach and support more people across Queensland.
Joining Kurbingui means becoming part of a movement that is strengthening culture, creating opportunity and making a difference every day.
The Youth Mentor with the Staying on Track Program plays an inspiring and hands-on role in supporting young people who are engaged with, or at risk of entering, the Youth Justice system. Funded through the Department of Youth Justice, this program is designed to give young people the support, guidance, and opportunities they need to make positive choices and re-engage with community, culture, education, and employment.
As a Youth Mentor, you’ll walk alongside participants in a genuine and empowering way—helping them to build resilience, strengthen their cultural identity, and see a positive future for themselves. Through one-on-one mentoring, group activities, and cultural engagement, you’ll encourage young people to set achievable goals, learn vital life skills, and access the right services and supports. Just as importantly, you’ll be a consistent and trusted role model, showing that challenges can be overcome and new pathways created. This role is about making meaningful connections, working closely with families, community, and partner organisations, and advocating for young people so they feel supported, valued, and inspired to stay on track.
