ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation (SAKGF) provides the inspiration, information, professional development and support for educational institutions to deliver pleasurable food education, in conjunction with educators, partners and the wider community. Pleasurable food education is a fun, hands-on approach to teaching children about fresh, seasonal, delicious food so they can form positive food habits for life.

We are seeking a motivated and professional Secondary Years Project Officer, with a positive, can-do attitude. Reporting to the Project Manager, your role is to:

  • Lead a project focused on continuing to support secondary school members, disseminate the Kitchen Garden Program for Secondary Years nationally, and continually enhance the program
  • Monitor, evaluate and continue to build the evidence base for program impact
  • Bring sector-specific knowledge and insights to the SAKGF team, being the key advocate and knowledge provider for the secondary years sector.

You will join a friendly, supportive and collaborative group of people dedicated to supporting schools and early childhood services to deliver pleasurable food education to young Australians.

  • Four days per week (0.8 FTE)
  • 1 year contract
  • The SAKGF team is currently working from home during covid-19. When we return to the office this role will be based in Melbourne, Collingwood (however we would consider someone in any state/territory if they were the right person)
  • Base salary of $65,000 (pro rata) plus superannuation, plus salary packaging benefits

ABOUT YOU

We are a small not-for-profit that exists in a changeable environment and is open to opportunity and change. You will need to be willing to handle a rapidly adapting workplace, with a responsive and flexible attitude. We are looking for someone with:

  • A passion to expand pleasurable food education to more young Australians
  • Knowledge of the education sector (secondary years in particular)
  • A flair for building relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
  • The ability to learn quickly, think critically and ask the right questions
  • Dedication to project tracking, reporting and evaluation
  • The capability to deliver projects to budget and timeline
  • A commitment to recording ‘the story’
  • An agile, collaborative, good humoured working style that can adapt to a changing environment
  • Experience in educational resource writing is desirable
  • Experience in program evaluation is desirable
  • Not-for-profit experience is desirable
  • A love of fresh, seasonal, delicious food is essential.
