Play an integral role in leading this community initiative on the unceded land of the Darug people across the Blacktown Local Government Area (LGA) in NSW, to enable children to form positive food habits for life through pleasurable food education and kitchen garden programs.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation enables preventative, positive change in the food, health, wellbeing and sustainability habits of children and young people, families and communities right across Australia.

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic Project Lead to deliver the Blacktown Kitchen Garden Project, on the unceded lands of the Darug people. Reporting to the Community Initiatives Manager, the Project Lead will work under general direction and be responsible for day-to-day project coordination, school support, community engagement, expense tracking, evaluation, and reporting.

This dynamic role involves supporting schools and working in close collaboration with local organisations and community groups to support healthy eating priorities across the Blacktown LGA.

You will join a passionate, supportive and collaborative group of people dedicated to supporting schools, early childhood services and communities to experience fun, hands-on and delicious food education for all young Australians.

ABOUT YOU

  • Kitchen garden program related experience or experience working with school settings
  • Strong local knowledge
  • Facilitation skills and the ability to deliver fun and engaging hands-on cooking and gardening sessions
  • Self-motivation and ability to drive a project
  • A love of fresh, seasonal, delicious food!

Details

  • Classification: SCHACDS Social and community services employee level 4 - pay point 1
  • Capacity: 0.8 FTE Part-time
  • Term: Fixed Term 12-month contract, with a 6-month probation period.
  • Location: On the unceded lands of the Darug people in Western Sydney, NSW. Co-located with the health promotion team at the Western Sydney Local Health District.
  • Compliance requirements: The applicant must hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check (Employee), a current National Police Check, and a current NSW Driver’s Licence.
