Role Description

This position is responsible for the delivery of programs for children and young people (aged 8-18) at Kevin Heinze Grow.

The Coordinator will actively assist the Manager – Programs and Clinical Services to develop, evaluate and improve program delivery for this client cohort.

The Coordinator will work closely with the Client Services team, assisting them to identify and assess potential program participants.

The Coordinator will assist the Manager – Marketing and Fundraising in promoting these services to potential participants, funders and the broader community.

Existing Programs

KHG After School: this program assists children and young people by supporting academic engagement, reducing risky behaviours and promoting good physical and mental health. It offers a safe, flexible yet structured environment for the students and may offer working parents an alternative after-school option for their child. It also acts as a bridge to post-school service engagement at KHG.

Grow Well: this program supports children who have experienced trauma by working closely with our team to engage in sensory experiences aimed at assisting in self-regulation, communication and resilience.

CORE FUNCTIONS

May include:

  • Working with the Manager – Programs and Clinical Services, the Principal Practitioner, the Manager – Client Services and other relevant staff to develop and improve program models;
  • Coordination and delivery of the Grow Well child trauma program;
  • Coordination and delivery of the KHG After School program;
  • Coordination and delivery of other programs or services to children and young people, as required;
  • Assisting the Manager – Programs and Clinical Services and the Principal Practitioner in program evaluation;
  • Assisting the Manager – Programs and Clinical Services and the Principal Practitioner in ensuring delivery methods adhere to best practice and respond to established evidence;
  • Assisting the Manager – Marketing and Fundraising in promoting programs and services to potential participants, funders and the broader community;
  • Working as part of a cooperative multidisciplinary team;
  • Participation at regular KHG staff planning sessions;
  • Adherence to workplace health and safety requirements;
  • Other duties as required.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Qualifications in Teaching / Social Work / Developmental Psychology / Occupational Therapy / Youth Services or equivalent;
  • Experience in providing targeted, purposeful services to children and young people;
  • Knowledge of child safety principles;
  • Demonstrated capacity to build effective working relationships;
  • Demonstrated capacity to make timely and appropriate decisions;
  • Ability to successfully manage sensitive information and communication with children, young people and their families;
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills;
  • Computer literacy.

Desirable

  • An interest in or experience in horticulture
  • 2+ years working with vulnerable children and young people
