About the role

The Team Manager – Permanency Services, Adoption will take a high profile, leadership role in the team and provide appropriate levels of line management, supervision, support and training to Adoption staff, ensuring that high quality practice is achievable. The Team Manager will align our services and OOHC practice with our Key Assets Purpose and Pledges.

The Team Manager will support the Adoption process by assuring compliance with the Adoption Act 2000 and Adoption Regulation 2015, the NSW Child Safe Standards for Permanent Care 2015 and the Key Assets Policy and Procedures.

Core Tasks

  • Show clear leadership within the Adoption team by working in close liaison with the Operations Manager Business Services, Assistant Director & Director, also known as NSW Senior Leadership Team.
  • Demonstrate a high level of knowledge, skills and expertise in adoption practice for children, young people and birth families.
  • Allocate work and tasks to Adoption Social Workers, Adoption Support Workers and chair relevant meetings, both internally and externally, as required.
  • Ensure that Social Work practice in relation to quality assurance and best practice is maintained in all cases and at all times.
  • In conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team, monitor the compliance in relation to the appropriate agreements, plans, assessments and probity checks related to birth family, children and young people and carers/prospective adoptive parents (PAP).
  • Contribute towards the growth and development of the business by implementing key areas identified in the business plan agreed through supervision.
  • Work in partnership with Department of Communities and Justice NSW to ensure that the child and young person’s needs as identified in the Case Plan and placement agreement are met.
  • Ensure the necessary Risk Assessments are completed in line with Key Assets policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Office of the Children’s Guardian accreditation requirements

Additional Duties

  • The post holder will be expected to demonstrate that Key Assets Purpose, Pledges & Values are at the centre of all they do.
  • The post holder will be expected to undertake training and development deemed necessary for the pursuance of the post.
  • The post holder will be expected to reach a minimum basic standard of I.T. competence to be able to use Company electronic systems effectively.
  • The post holder will be expected to ensure to comply with Equal Opportunities Policy and Procedure in all employment practices
  • The post holder will be expected to comply with the no smoking policy in place and ensure that Health and Safety is observed in the course of employment
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures, throughout all work within the Company, keeping the Senior Leadership Team or equivalent informed of work in progress and inform, where appropriate, any child protection matter, reportable conduct or serious complaint.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • To demonstrate expertise and commitment to a growing team and the service you will provide
  • Bring high energy, enthusiasm and a passion for the role
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Child and Family Social Work / Case Work, a Social Work qualification is highly desirable
  • Show evidence of leadership and supervisory experience
  • Have a strong ability to build sustainable relationships with all stakeholders
  • Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to children’s services and of all policies and procedures in relation to Safeguarding children
