A little about the role

We are expanding out locally based service across the Riverland region of South Australia.  This 12-month contract will support Out of home family-based carers and children across the Riverland, including the Waikerie area, as part of the Key Assets SA’s rural and regional expansion.  As a Social Worker, you will:

  • Provide a locally based Riverland/Mid North service that supports foster and kinship carers, strengthens regional relationships and contributes to Key Assets SA’s rural and regional expansion.
  • Be part of a collaborative integrated team working together to make a positive and lasting difference to children and young people through the provision of quality care in a family setting and provide regular support via telephone and face to face visits to Foster Carers.
  • Monitor that the children/young people and their families are being provided with foster care services responding to their needs, as well as facilitating and encouraging support contact as agreed in the care plan.
  • Ensure that the protection of children and their welfare is given the absolute priority in all activities and events, while also ensuring that the children/young person’s opinions are sought over all issues likely to affect their daily life.
  • Supporting and coaching foster carers to learn and grow in confidence and ability guided by the Key Assets Practice Framework for Foster Care, and in adherence with organisational and Departmental legislation, policy, procedures, standards and competencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Team Manager, Senior Social Worker and Outer North team through structured supervision, practice mentoring, team meetings and case discussions, including video-first participation when working regionally.
