About Us

Kensington Community Children’s Cooperative (KCCC) is a parent managed early learning centre that has been operating since 1982. We are licensed for 166 places and provide early childhood education and care, including long day care, funded sessional and integrated kindergarten programs. As a business, the centre turns over more than $5 million per annum and employs approximately 75 staff (permanent, part-time, and casual).  

We are committed to providing the highest quality early childhood education and care with and for our community. 

That means stretching ourselves to meet the expanding needs of children, families and community stakeholders within the expectations and requirements of an evolving sector. 

We have an active strategy that outlines our commitment to proactively grow and adapt to ensure we remain a meaningful and valued part of the Kensington community for many years to come. 

The Opportunity

KCCC operates with a Board of nine directors, eight who are elected from the Co-operative membership and one independent (non-member). We are looking for a director with specialist skills in the areas of:

  1. Early Childhood Education Sector / Policy knowledge (highly desirable)
  2. Revenue generation, with experience in grant writing and fund raising(desirable)
  3. Human Resource management and workforce planning (desirable).

About the Role

The KCCC Board of Directors have significant influence over the activities or delivery of the service, which includes making decisions on matters which can impact safety, health and wellbeing of children at the service.

Board members are required to attend and contribute to monthly meetings, which includes reviewing briefing papers prior to the meeting and may include include being involved in a sub-committee.

It would be ideal if the candidate had previous Board experience or governance training, further development and support is offered to all directors.

Screening includes:

  • Assessment of fitness and priority as Persons with Management or Control (PMC)
  • Candidates must pass a Working with Children Check.
