Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is a regional health service controlled by the Aboriginal community and has been serving the region since 1986. KAMS provides centralised advocacy and resource support for six independent member services and offers direct clinical services in six remote Aboriginal communities.
Kimberley Renal Services (KRS) comprises of four Renal Health Centres in Fitzroy Crossing, Broome, Kununurra, and Derby, as well as a mobile dialysis vehicle. As a component of the larger KAMS, Kimberley Renal Service (KRS) values our team as we are committed to enhancing its employees' knowledge, skills, and experience.
Our team makes a meaningful impact in combating the high incidence of kidney disease in the Kimberley region. The prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) within the Aboriginal population greatly exceeds the national burden of disease, and the need for dialysis has tripled over the past decade.
Our partnership with the regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) has enabled patients to receive treatment locally instead of travelling 2,500 km to Perth. Be a part of our renal strategic plan and contribute to improving the health outcomes of the Kimberley community.
We are seeking qualified and experienced Renal Dialysis Nurses to join our dedicated teams at Kimberley Renal Service across Western Australia's Kimberley region. As a team member, you will have the important role of providing dialysis services to patients at one of our centres in Broome, Kununurra, Derby, and Fitzroy Crossing.
In this clinical-focused role, you will have the opportunity to get to know your patients, review patient outcomes, and provide clinical support to your nursing team. Your responsibilities will include the following:
You will also deliver culturally safe nursing care per unit protocols and best practice guidelines, coordinate shifts, and support the skill development of junior staff.
Additionally, you will play an essential role in contributing to developing and implementing KRS's continuous quality improvement framework and participating in the ongoing development of regional renal services.
People who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander are encouraged to apply.
This is a highly attractive opportunity for people interested in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health to make a real difference in local communities. Working in a remote setting, you will be able to utilise and develop your renal dialysis skills and experience while positively impacting the health outcomes of the Kimberley community.
More importantly, you will enjoy a Level 2 attractive base salary circa $107,025 plus super, sign-on bonus, and some other great benefits, which include:
These roles offer significant training and career development opportunities within the Kimberley Renal Service and the larger Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services.
The successful candidate appointed to the Fitzroy Crossing Centre will enjoy the above benefits and an attractive base salary circa $121,013 plus super, sign-on bonus and six weeks annual leave.
As a Level 2 Registered Renal Dialysis Nurse, you will bring a minimum of five years of renal experience and a Nursing Qualification and registration with AHPRA. As such, you must also be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (3 doses).
Furthermore, you will possess the following attributes:
This role will provide you with an unbeatable opportunity to learn about remote healthcare and renal care and gain experience not available in larger tertiary hospitals. While not required for the role, a renal certificate will be highly regarded.
