Executive Director

Justice Reform Initiative

We’re seeking a visionary, collaborative, outcomes-focused individual to lead this developing initiative.

About the role

Our Executive Director will set the course for JRI’s long-term success and impact, through their expertise in developing both a strategic plan and an operational roadmap to chart our future.

You’ll bring demonstrated success in stakeholder relations. Success in the role will require you to build close, trusted relationships with our patrons, government and with our developing supporter base. As the public face of the organisation, you will be an excellent communicator, comfortable and skilled across all forms of media.

As a seasoned advocate you will champion change across the community and political arena, while building JRI networks and public credibility, consistent with our values. In doing so you will respect the leadership role of Aboriginal led organisations campaigning to reduce the over representation of their people in the criminal justice system.

This position is a Sydney based, full-time 12 months contract (with strong possibility of extension), competitively remunerated, reporting to the Chair of the JRI.

Key capabilities

  • Relationship-building: Demonstrated success in managing, developing and sustaining effective working relations with stakeholders, funding partners, government officials, and other networks of influence.
  • Communications: Exceptional interpersonal skills matched by excellent skills of written communication for internal and external audiences.
  • Organisational: Demonstrated experience delivering with excellence on strategic workplans, arranging work in an orderly way, planning, organising and monitoring performance according to agreed priorities.
  • Development and delivery: Evidence of effectiveness in working collaboratively to develop new funding opportunities that drive growth and deliver impact.

About the Justice Reform Initiative

JRI is a new volunteer based national advocacy campaign aiming to build a movement of community and cross party support to build a better justice system for Australia that does not rely principally upon costly and harmful imprisonment, but instead provides effective alternatives and support for the establishment of safer and stronger communities.

If this sounds interesting, rewarding and—importantly—a fit with your personal ambition and values, we would love to hear from you.
