Who we are

This role part of the small JFM Fund team, who are committed to funding work that creates new models of inclusion, where people with disability take up active, contributing roles in communities of their choice. We have an established grant program supporting innovative projects that support new models of inclusion and access to services and supports. The Grants Manager will work on our new and current grant programs.

The JFM Fund is part of the Julia Farr group, a purpose-led organisation working towards a more inclusive world where people with disability have access to the same opportunities as everyone else.

The Julia Farr group also includes JFA Purple Orange, inhousing and Stretchy Tech.

JFA Purple Orange’s work is grounded in lived experience and focuses on systemic advocacy, co-designed projects and peer networks, training and consulting.

inhousing provides accessible housing to people with disability. Our portfolio of homes support tenant control and choice and set the scene for our tenant’s community life.

Stretchy Tech delivers inclusive mainstream technologies that support people to increase independence, dignity, wellbeing and freedom, both at home and in the community.

Who we’re looking for

This is an exciting opportunity for a values driven, experienced Grants Manager to design and deliver a new grants program. You will be able to demonstrate understanding and delivery of contemporary best practice in relationship-based grants management.

We have a commitment to innovation and inclusion, and to developing our practice in participatory grant making, so you'll be able to bring fresh ideas and test new approaches

Ideally, you will understand co-design methods, as the successful candidate will work with the SA disability community to design grant programs that deliver the biggest impact for the community.

You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to ethical practice, probity, confidentiality and management of conflicts of interest in funding contexts.

Experience managing grant workflow, documentation, payments, acquittals and/or reporting is critical to this role.

We are particularly interested in bringing someone into our team who gets job satisfaction from putting people living with disability at the centre of design and decision making. You will find a team of like-minded people who are passionate about the impact We support people and organisations to achieve.

People with disability are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience working alongside people with disability, working in the disability sector, or supporting co-design processes will be highly regarded.

What you will be doing

As Grant Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing program content and grant making processes for a new grants program; and for day to day operations of our existing grant programs.

Some of the tasks you will undertake will include:

  • Implementing grant programs using participatory grant‑making approaches, supporting the involvement of people with disability in program design, assessment and review activities.
  • Planning and coordinating the operational delivery of grant programs.
  • Providing operational support and providing advice to assessment panels, advisory groups, and decision‑makers, including meeting coordination, documentation, attendance and record‑keeping. This includes the Trust Fund Committee and JFM Fund board.
  • Managing grant application processes, including applicant enquiries, application checks, and assessment coordination.
  • Preparing grant documentation, including funding recommendations, agreements, payment schedules, and variations.
  • Coordinating grant payments, milestones, and acquittals in collaboration with Finance team and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring funded activities and collecting outcomes information.
  • Preparing regular grant performance and acquittal reports for internal reporting and governance purposes.
