What we do

Jewish Care Victoria, a not-for-profit organisation, is the largest provider of disability, aged and community services for the Jewish Community in Victoria. Services include Disability, Mental Health, Aged Residential Care, Assessment Referral and Individual Support Services and Family Services and Holocaust Survivors Programs.

The role

We are now seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Disability Services and lead a team of dedicated Disability Support Workers by promoting person-centred active support to facilitate community inclusion in one of many programs. This position is a full time contracted role located in Caulfield. Our aim is to empower clients to make choices, achieve their goals and lead a rewarding life.

What you will do:

  • Establish and maintain a supportive environment of inclusion and person centred active support
  • Promote community integration in all aspects of a person’s life
  • Demonstrate the ability to support individuals in a small group setting
  • Support and facilitate client bookings, intake and assessment
  • Empower clients to maximise personal decision-making opportunities
  • Maintain effective interpersonal communication with staff and clients
  • Liaise with relevant agencies/community resources, colleagues and families to ensure continuity of care and goals are met
  • Commit to best practice principles by identifying and contributing to projects
  • Implement Continuous Improvement in all aspects of service delivery
  • Support and empower vulnerable people to report and speak out against instances of abuse or potential abuse.
  • Demonstrate leadership and provide skills development to disability support workers

You will have:

  • Certificate IV Community Services – Disability or recognised equivalent
  • Substantial experience in the disability services with a focus on community engagement
  • Ability to effectively manage work schedule, and to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and assist staff to effectively support clients according to their individual needs and personal preferences
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and good computer skills
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Level 2 First Aid Certificate, Police Check and Working with Children’s Check
  • Full time availability in school holiday periods
