First Nations Media Australia is seeking a part-time Senior Policy Officer to lead policy representation for the First Nations media industry. Working with a small team, the Senior Policy Officer will focus on policy development, communication support for Closing the Gap and building strategic relationships to progress the sector’s 9 Calls for Action.

This role works to support the objectives of First Nations Media Australia’s membership, contributing to a dynamic and exciting media industry in a strength-based, community-controlled sector. Bring your passion for diversifying Australia’s media landscape and your writing skills. You will be representing the industry in important policy forums, working to change the landscape of media representation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Knowledge of broadcast licensing is preferred and strong stakeholder engagement skills is required. You will need to be able to research, write and present – so media experience is a bonus!

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants will be prioritised for this position.

0.8 position (4 days/30.4 hours, negotiable regular days/hours) paid at $92k pro rata.

The Senior Policy Officer reports to the CEO, oversees a Policy Officer and works closely with the Member Services Officer and Communications Officer, as well as supporting project staff as required.
