Voluntary Board of Management Positions x2: Trainee / Member - Morwell

Interchange Gippsland

We have two exciting governance opportunities available at Interchange Gippsland.

About us

Established in 1986, Interchange Gippsland is a highly regarded not-for-profit, NDIS registered organisation that provides innovative and flexible support services to individuals with a disability and their families across the Gippsland Region.

At Interchange Gippsland we value empowerment, quality and respect and aim to provide services that epitomise those values. We are committed to supporting people with a disability to increase their independence in a well-governed and financially sustainable manner.

About the Board Member Trainee role

The Interchange Gippsland Board Traineeship program offers the opportunity to join the Board of ICG as an observer for a 12-month period. As a Trainee you will participate in discussions and governance activities, without the duties and responsibilities that apply to director positions. This is a great opportunity to develop practical and strategic governance skills in a professional, supportive environment.

Applications are open to people who reside in Gippsland.

We actively encourage applications from people living with a disability as well as other diverse lived experiences to apply. This may take the form of educational, work or personal experiences that you believe will be relevant and useful to the role. ICG welcomes applications from all backgrounds and identities.

As a Board Trainee you will:

  • be provided extensive support and guidance via an induction process and a mentorship with an existing Board Member,
  • attend all ICG Board Meetings,
  • join one of the board sub-committees.
  • receive training opportunities,
  • undertake professional development,
  • attend the ICG Annual General Meeting in 2024 to share traineeship experiences with members, and
  • enthusiastically represent ICG at events and meetings.

About the Board Member role

We are seeking motivated and energetic individuals to join the voluntary Board of Management. The Board of Management conduct monthly meetings to assist in the strategic planning and direction of the organisation. These meetings can be attended in person or remotely.

As a Board of Management Member, you will undertake a number of tasks, such as:

  • attending monthly meetings,
  • reviewing and contributing towards Board papers,
  • assisting in the ongoing review and monitoring of business practices,
  • understanding the application of industrial and regulatory bodies such as the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to Interchange Gippsland.

Board members of Interchange Gippsland are an essential part of our organisation and contribute towards our Vision, Mission and Values to assist participants and their families to achieve their goals. Being an Interchange Gippsland Board member is a worthwhile and important undertaking and we encourage you to reach out to us if the role speaks to your values.
