About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Company Accountant with proven experience in managing end-to-end accounting functions for multiple entities and is motivated by the opportunity to help shape sustainable outcomes for the not for profit sector in Melbourne’s west. You will be empowered to make this role your own build a small accounting support team. We work within a small supportive and dynamic team in West Footscray, that is passionate about our community and supporting the not for profit sector.

The role is 4-5 days per week and hours can be flexible to suit individual needs (e.g. between school hours)

Working closely with the OM and reporting to the CEO this role will own the finance function, managing everything from transactional finance and month end processes to preparing and providing analysis to the financial reports.

Key duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the financial accounts and compliance for Local Impact and its associated programs and clients
  • Design, Development and preparation of monthly reports for IWCF and its associated entities
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable
  • Prepare and manage weekly payroll (casual, part time, full time and superannuation)
  • BAS and IAS calculations and lodgement
  • Preparation of returns to ATO, ASIC, CA and ACNC
  • Weekly cash and sales software reconciliation
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of documents as required by the auditors
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets

Experience and attributes

  • Comprehensive experience with Xero and MYOB, including wages and budgeting tools 
  • Intermediate level Microsoft office suite (excel, word, powerpoint)
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential
  • Excellent problem solving and communication skills 
  • Well organised with excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task between projects and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to support other members in a small team
  • Retail experience including Lightspeed and Abacus would be highly regarded
  • CA/ CPA qualified with a degree in accounting and 3+ years experience
  • BAS licence would be highly regarded

Position is available for an immediate start. A valid Working with Children Check and Police check will be required before commencing employment.
