Impact you will have in this role

Reporting to the Fundraising & Philanthropy Manager, the Trusts & Foundations Officer plays a key role in securing philanthropic funding from trusts, foundations, and grant-making bodies.

You will take ownership of identifying and progressing grant opportunities across a diverse portfolio, managing the end-to-end grants process from opportunity identification through to submission, reporting, and stewardship.

Working closely with clinicians, researchers, and internal stakeholders, you will translate complex health and research priorities into clear, compelling, and fundable proposals.

You will also help shape and implement engagement strategies for trusts and foundations, supporting the development of long-term, sustainable funding relationships aligned to organisational priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify grant opportunities across trusts, foundations, corporate partners, and community funding bodies
  • Develop high-quality, tailored funding proposals and compelling cases for support aligned to organisational priorities
  • Manage the end-to-end grants process, including submissions, timelines, and stakeholder coordination
  • Build and steward relationships with trusts, foundations, and trustees, including PAFs and PuAFs
  • Collaborate with clinicians and researchers to translate complex clinical and research information into clear, fundable applications
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies to strengthen and grow institutional funder relationships
  • Support the delivery of acquittals, progress reports, and stewardship communications
  • Maintain accurate records, tracking systems, and reporting for all grant activity
  • Contribute to broader fundraising strategy through proactive pipeline development and opportunity identification

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in trusts & foundations or grant writing ideally within a not-for-profit or healthcare environment
  • Strong written communication skills, with experience developing compelling funding proposals and clear cases for support
  • Ability to think creatively and develop funding initiatives from concept through to submission
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working collaboratively across clinicians, researchers, and internal teams
  • Ability to interpret complex clinical or research information and translate it into accessible, compelling language
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and reporting requirements
  • Commitment to advancing medical research and improving patient outcomes
