Impact you will have in this role

The Donor Relations Executive plays a pivotal role in strengthening relationships with major donors, foundations and mid-level donors, ensuring they feel connected to the impact of their generosity.

Reporting to the Development Director, this role works alongside a team of fundraising professionals to coordinate and deliver activities that support the organisation's donor stewardship strategy. You will create engaging stewardship experiences that recognise, inspire and retain supporters throughout their philanthropic journey.

You will develop and deliver strategic engagement opportunities that foster trust and encourage ongoing support. Through compelling impact reporting, tailored communications, donor recognition initiatives and bespoke engagement opportunities, you will demonstrate the difference donors make and ensure they feel valued and appreciated.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised professional who enjoys combining storytelling, stakeholder engagement and project management to create exceptional donor experiences. You will bring outstanding written communication skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering a personalised donor journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver tailored donor stewardship initiatives, including impact reports, communications and engagement opportunities that strengthen relationships with major donors and foundations.
  • Coordinate donor recognition activities and events, ensuring supporters feel valued, connected to the organisation's mission and inspired to continue their support.
  • Establish and manage stewardship processes, reporting frameworks and timelines to ensure donor communications and impact updates are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Build strong relationships across the organisation to gather donor impact information, coordinate stewardship activities and support a donor-centric culture.
  • Maintain accurate donor records, respond to donor enquiries and ensure a high standard of donor care and personalised engagement.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of stewardship policies, procedures and organisational processes to support best-practice donor relations.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in fundraising, donor communication, relationship management or similar.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to write copy to deadlines and adapt style to different audiences.
  • Emotional resilience and the ability to work with emotionally challenging subject matter
  • A creative thinker with an eye for design.
  • Proven track record of building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conceptual and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent time management, able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage work independently.
  • Compassionate and empathetic towards cancer patients and their families.
  • Creative, curious, and willing to try new communication methods with donors.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific topics in an engaging way.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
