About Solar Citizens

Who we are:

Solar Citizens is Australia's people-powered clean energy advocacy organisation, mobilising a national movement of 200,000+ Australians to champion rooftop solar, battery storage and clean transport, shifting power from fossil fuels controlled by a few to clean energy owned by the many.

Our impact in Australia

Australia is the world leader in rooftop solar with 4.2 million homes and businesses generating their own energy. Solar Citizens helped shape the political conditions that made it happen. Our campaigns have resulted in $12.3 billion in clean energy investment secured since 2022.

About the role

You want to listen deeply to understand what drives and concerns the local communities that will shape Australia's energy future.

You believe the people most affected by the energy transition should have a real voice in it. Whether working with renters, business owners, sparkies or local leaders, you bring people together to build local power, influence decision-makers and ensure communities benefit from cleaner, cheaper and more secure energy.

The Senior Organiser leads Solar Citizens' place-based organising in strategically important communities. You will translate national campaign priorities into locally owned campaigns that strengthen community leadership, influence energy policy and build lasting grassroots power.

  • Develop and deliver place-based organising strategies in priority electorates and regions on the Central Coast and in the Hunter focused on delivering benefits of solar for renters and other rooftop solar and battery clean energy solutions to vulnerable community members. Support initiatives for safe work in the industry and workforce participation for young people and women to become electricians

Build local leadership:

  • Listen to and work with community, including identifying community leaders and cultivating active volunteers
  • Provide local community the tools to be active in securing the benefits from clean energy
