The Solar Citizens Fundraising Manager will build on the last decade of high-impact work by Solar Citizens, and ensure its financial sustainability for the decade to come.

About the role

Our Fundraising Manager will be responsible for planning, organising, and overseeing campaigns and activities to secure funds for-purpose not for profit. Your primary objective is to raise financial support by cultivating relationships with donors, individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and organisational skills are essential in this role, as the Fundraising Manager works to align donors' philanthropic interests with the organisation’s goals, fostering long-term partnerships and financial stability.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Sharing your expertise with the team, you will review our supporter list and current fundraising programs, pursue areas for growth and implement best practice
  • Research the viability and if found to be strategic develop a Bequest Program
  • Oversee online digital fundraising tactics, working closely with the inspiring campaign leaders
  • Work with the CEO on major donor fundraising
  • Scope for grant opportunities and work with the team to procure grants
  • Harness our impact reporting for maximum leverage
  • Assess major donor and supporter events opportunities
  • Explore and build on our Corporate Partnerships campaign ‘Switch and Save’

Selection criteria:

  • Ability to balance a combination of strategic planning, relationship building, and administrative tasks.
  • Proven ability and techniques for building and maintaining relationships, and collaborating with stakeholders:
  • Track record for developing fundraising strategies and identifying funding opportunities
  • Experience and highly successful previous outcomes from organising fundraising campaigns and events.
  • Ability to create fundraising materials
  • Experience with grant writing and proposal development
  • Experience with donor data management and reporting; and compliance and ethical practices
  • Communication skills including interpersonal, written, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team, through a combination of in-person and remote work

Desirable qualities:

  • Familiarity with the Nationbuilder platform, Google Suite, and social media
  • Knowledge of Australia’s political landscape.
  • Experience with the NGO sector

Salary And Conditions:

This is for a senior role with a remuneration depending on experience. The position is a full-time or near full-time role. The role title can be workshopped to suit the right candidate.

We will consider candidates from all Australian locations. Our team is spread across Australia, centred around Sydney.

The Fundraising Manager may need to travel to attend staff planning meetings, meet with potential donors, or participate in fundraising events in different cities or regions.

Solar Citizens is a flexible workplace with four weeks of leave plus one week of end-of-year closure.
