Hume City Council's Population Health Planner is responsible for development and implementation of Hume City Council's Health and Wellbeing Plan and leading planning, policy, and service development across a range of health-related portfolio areas.

This role will suit an experienced policy and planning leader who enjoys working in a dynamic and high performing team and across multiple subject areas.

Our preferred candidate will possess a sound knowledge of public health theory and practice, the health and social service system, and the roles and responsibilities of various agencies within this system. The role will include investigating, analysing, and recommending policy or service options to Senior Managers and Councillors underpinned by community, organisational and contextual knowledge, and research.

We are seeking a person with extensive experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing complex projects and initiatives. Our preferred candidate will also possess excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to communicate complex information effectively with a range of stakeholders and in a range of formats.

Key Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of working in public health, health promotion and/or community development settings, including development and oversight of systems-level initiatives.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to write reports, plans, and submissions and deliver oral presentations.
  • High level relationship, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to operate collaboratively within the organisation and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to review, develop and implement improved systems and processes to enhance organisational efficiency and effectiveness.
