About the role

The HSU NSW/ ACT / QLD is seeking an experienced Organiser and Administrator to proactively develop our membership in Aboriginal Health Services in QLD. The HSU membership in Queensland is in Aboriginal Health Services and has long needed a capable person on the ground to be a resource not just as an Organiser but as a capable Union administrator. The goal of the position is to grow the Union across the length and breadth of Queensland in this largely unrepresented sector, develop an activist structure which will lead to local representation for the Union’s membership and ultimately lead to an expansion of staff and resources.

This role is suitable for a senior organiser who is looking to build skills in union management or a manager/lead organiser who is lg seeking a unique challenge. The role will work solo in Queensland until such time as the Union’s membership has grown to the point of allowing a further expansion in staff. The position will be required to travel on a rotating basis through all relevant areas of Queensland with 1-2 days every 8 weeks in the Union’s head office in Sydney. The role will receive mentoring and support from existing HSU management staff and will report directly to the Secretary through the Union’s Chief of Staff.

All required travel will be paid. Salary is 106,982 plus a vehicle, 11% Superannuation and other generous entitlements.

The position is a 12-month fixed term contract with the possibility of extension if the growth objectives of the role are met. Relocation costs can be met for the right candidate.
