We are looking for a supportive and committed Youth Residential Support Worker to join the Youth Foyer-like model of supported transitional housing for young people and young families who are provided with safe, secure and affordable accommodation for 12 months to 2 years, based in Whittlesea (Thomastown).

On a day-to-day basis, you will:

  • Work with young people to be active participants in creating opportunities to strengthen their housing, employment, education, training and personal and social development.
  • Complete daily client file notes as needed and assist with administration duties to help operations run smoothly.
  • Have the opportunity to make a real difference in young people’s lives.

You will be available to work a set roster of 20 hours per fortnight; Friday, Saturday and Sunday

The hours are:

Week 2

  • Friday 2.30pm – 9.00pm (30-minute meal break)  6 hours
  • Saturday 10.00am – 6.00pm (30-minute meal break)  7.5 hours
  • Sunday 10.00am – 5.00pm (30-minute meal break)  6.5 hours

Totalling 20 hours

ABOUT YOU

  • Do you have a Bachelor Degree qualification in Social Work, Human services, Community studies or other welfare related qualifications.
  • Do you have knowledge or experience of youth-focused practice frameworks such as strengths-based or trauma-informed practice?
  • Do you have sector knowledge or experience understanding of young people’s trauma with complex needs, including homelessness, family violence, alcohol, drugs and/or mental illness?
  • Do you pride yourself on your ability to motivate and advocate for clients to achieve outcomes?
  • Do you have well-developed communication skills including relationship building, problem solving and report writing?
  • Are you highly competent using the full suite of Microsoft applications?
