Homes North is taking expressions of interest for an upcoming opportunity working with vulnerable people in an exciting new project. This opportunity would be a great opportunity for a motivated, hard-working person to join the new arm of our organisation as a caretaker for a small 9 room motel that will provide accommodation for clients in need of crisis or temporary accommodation. The successful candidate will be provided with inclusive accommodation, due to out of hours responsibilities of the role.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Responding to and deescalating emergencies and/or crisis situations
  • Performing duty manager responsibilities as required including: opening/closing facilities each day; security checks and lock up at the end of each day; performing out of hours security checks; attending to out of hours situations (guests / residents locked out, room moves, rollaway bed requirements etc after hours),
  • Hotel operations, organisation and participation, including on-call and out of hours responsibilities.
  • Occasional front office administration including management of guests access, keys, maintenance queries and on-site presence
  • Completion of grounds-keeping tasks, to ensure a high standard of appearance throughout the Hotel including maintenance of lawns, gardens, trees, painting etc.
  • Completion of maintenance tasks across all motel facilities, including maintenance of plant, equipment and the motels overall features and aesthetic appearance
  • Attending to fire and smoke alarms
  • Housekeeping duties
  • Ensure the motel is compliant with all safety, statutory and organisational standards.

Who we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who has experience in any of the following areas:

  • Experience working with varied groups of people or in the mental health area (desirable, not essential)
  • Experience in developing and support community harmony
  • Preferably trade qualified, however not essential
  • Grounds and maintenance experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of WHS and responsibilities.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Great people and relationship building skills.
  • Sound computer skills, especially in the MS Office suite.
  • Availability to assist with on-call duties (weekends and Public Holidays).
